ITCA 2007
7th-9th March 2007
The biggest ITCA Trade Show ever was attended by record numbers. The exhibition was of the highest quality and it was obvious that a lot of suppliers had spent enormous amounts of time and money in preparing for the three day show held in Cologne, Germany.
The two day conference entitled “Meeting Expectations” was thoroughly enjoyed by the delegates with Keynote speaker, Claire Nuttall from Dragon taking the audience through the changing world of ‘Healthy eating’ and pointing out what the suppliers and providers should be looking to develop over the next few years if they wanted to ‘steal a march’.
Damon Stanton of Virgin Atlantic informed the audience, on behalf of Airlines, Rail and Ship Operators exactly what the Operators are looking for from Suppliers. Those that were there will definitely have an advantage.
ITCA introduced “The Taste Challenge” – a detailed presentation followed by a quiz on both Olive Oil and Chocolate. The audience were given some fascinating tips on the quality and make up of both raw materials and this was followed by a tasting. A questionnaire was completed and two worthy winners selected for their appropriate prize.
For those who wanted to know the answers to the chocolate quiz::
Recipe A
Cinnamon Creme Brulee - white chocolate infused with cinnamon topped with caramel covered in Belgian milk chocolate
Recipe B
Brazilian Orange Supreme - Orange oil from Brazil blended with a dark chocolate ganache covered in 55% dark Belgian chocolate

The Willie Seeman Trade Show award was won by Packattack – a popular choice.
The new social calendar seemed to be a tremendous success with a casual and informal party with Wild Boars on Spit roasts, a BBQ section, Chinese corner, Fish counter and many more varieties of food were all washed down with a selection of beverages. All of which enabled the roaming entertainers, fire dancers and top rate dance band to entertain all attendees well into the early hours of Friday.
5 New Board Members were duly elected at the AGM – from left to right - Dirk Kleer of LSG Skychefs, Philippa Cresswell of Virgin Trains, Dilip Nijhawan of Sri Lankan Catering, David Williams of Stena Line and Ariane de Mancius of Helios.
